A video game is defined as a game which is played on a digital/electronic machine and involved human interaction. In late 70s and early 80’s the video games was only available in arcades, consoles and some computer. Granted at that time the popularity of home computers was on the rise but video games were all the rage at that time. Shooting games puzzle games and all sorts of video games were available but then through the rise of personal computer and strategy games that completely absorbed the players, took over the gaming industry and as a result arcades started to die.

The death of arcades translated in more attraction towards the console games and computer games. Though technological advancements and improved computing capabilities of an average home computer the gaming experience became more and more interactive and immersed gaming experience but technological advancements also improved the console gaming for average gamer. After that period gaming industry started to grow gradually, after every 6 months to 1 year new technology was introduced which translated into more complex and graphics intensive games.

Throughout the history of video games its was gradual and steady change but in 2009 after the introduction of iPhone 3 and other new smart phones which all had more than capable computing power and big touch screens changed the gaming industry from the core and after that year video game industry radically shifted its attention towards the mobile gaming platforms and mobile consoles which were small easy to carry and provided immersive gaming experience in the palm of your hand.

Mobile gaming open the world for new and exciting opportunities and now  we are at the verge of next gen gaming platform which take things one thing further and that is virtual reality, where the participants and visually in the gaming world and can directly interact with the game. This technology is in beta stage right now but things are looking amazing at this stage and can be even more amazing when the technology is fully developed.


From 8-bit games to full fledged 4K gaming experience the video gaming industry have seen its share of challenges and though hard work and innovation the industry came through with flying colors and now we can enjoy voice activated gesture controlled 4K gaming right in our living room.
